  • They are endangered cranes.
  • There are only about 373 in the wild, and 145 in captivity.
  • The whooping Cranes are threatened by the destruction of their wetlands, disease and power lines.
  • Their population has increased somewhat due to conservation efforts.
  • Considered one of the rarest birds North America.
